I would like to travel from Zagreb to Siem Reap. There is an option to buy a ticket for ZAG-DOH-BKK-SAI on the Qatar Airways website, but the last leg is operated by Bangkok Airways. If I book such a ticket, do I have to enter Thailand in Bangkok to pick up my bags and then go to the check-in counter, as if it was a separate flight? If so, would it be more reasonable to simply buy a ticket ZAG-DOH-BKK and then buy a separate ticket from Bangkok Airways for the BKK-SAI flight?

What if I only had hand luggage? Would I be issued boarding passes at ZAG for all 3 flights and then wouldn't have to cross the border in BKK?

Thank you in advance!
You won't need to enter Thailand and your bags will be checked through. So you would just follow the signs for international flight connections.

Bangkok Airways are quite good, there'll be a (basic) lounge to sit in whilst you wait, whichever class you are travelling in (think coffee and cakes type stuff)
