As for that very first trip, we wanted to try few things, so we stayed at other resort (we flew there with a sea plane) and then had transfers arranged to St. Regis and from St. Regis to a local island. All that has been done through the Guest House we stayed at the local island. Then from local island, we were taking fast boat, which was regular service happening I think 3 or 4 times a week. It took ca. 3 hours to get to Male and costed around USD 40 per person. Later on we flew to Sri Lanka to continue the adventure.
That does sound like one fun adventure

. I very highly doubt that STR would currently allow guests to arrive or depart by anything other than the seaplane arranged by them. Although I always wonder what they would do if guests just pulled up to the dock on a boat they arranged on their own or through another resort, would they just not accept them 🤔? However, being that they contact guests prior to arrival to arrange the sea plane I'm guessing this wouldn't really be able to happen anyway because if you tell them in advance you're self arranging transfer they will respond that it's against policy and not allowed.
