We enjoy walking but are happy to use public transportation or taxis. I would be booking a 1-bedroom suite at either hotel through a STARS travel advisor; perks like free breakfast are included at both hotels (even at the Edition). Price is roughly the same for a comparable suite at either hotel for my date (so price is not a factor).
Here's what I've been weighing:
- JW Marriott:
- Highly recommended with excellent reviews.
- Located near Marina Bay Sands and many attractions in that area.
- Main con is that it feels like it's in more of a business district. I also don't love the décor from the reviews I've seen.
- The Edition:
- New hotel and it matches my preference for style and design.
- Situated on Orchard Road, close to the Christmas lights, which sounds appealing.
- Main con is that we don't shop, and I know this is in the main shopping area.
Can someone please help me decide?
I have not stayed at the Edition, but did stay by the JW, across the street at the Raffles. We did like the area around the JW, but like all of SIN, it is congested. We walked back and forth everywhere (including to the MBS), but heads up: There is a lot of construction going on. It is not really close to MBS, especially if you are transporting a young kid. Personally, I would not make a decision based upon proximity to MBS.
