I had the unpleasant experience of Lufthansa canceling my return flight. (I know OP is asking about LX, but isn't LX under the LH family?). It was a good thing I was on a UA ticket stock. When LH staff dragged their foot on rebooking me, and ultimately leaving me almost stranded, I texted UA to death and took care of me on one of their flights.
