These posts make me think back to my trip to the US last month.

I hadn't visited the Premium Checkin at AKL for maybe 6 or 7 years as I typically always fly from WLG, and don't know the layout of the new area.

Last month before I flew out to the US I ended up having to fly to AKL the day prior so booked a cheap standalone ticket and told Air NZ that I wouldn't be on my original flight to AKL (which there are no issues with). Got to the Premium Checkin and was immediately greeted by somebody who asked me if I was checking in and initially tried to direct me to the kiosk as there were probably 3-4 people in each of the three counters that were open. I said the Kiosk wouldn't work as I had skipped my original flight from Wellington and she then directed me to a queue to join.

About two mins later she then came up to me and said "you can go through here to make things faster" and took me to the BP check-in around the back as though she was doing me a favour where there was nobody and I was sorted quickly.. The irony of this is that I was actually flying BP.

It seems their way of approaching and triaging passengers is a little flawed..
