I do think this is the case too... I've actually checked in at the general queue quite a couple of times because it was way quicker to do so. There is nothing premium about the premium check-in area, especially when there's a queue to get in and it is so cramped inside with so many people trying to manoeuvre around - it's like a zoo. This kinda sounds like the lounge too, doesn't it? Paints a picture *sigh*
And don't get me started on the queue to the elevator... numerous times, we just walk out and use the general public escalator to head to express security queue.
