Just finished a one-night stay on Saturday night with a free night certificate that was expiring next week. As noted above, it's in a pretty uninteresting part of town. The hotel name is a bit misleading; when most people think of Pearl Street, they think of the pedestrian mall where all of the shops and restaurants are. On a good, pleasant day, it's a 30-minute walk away to the eastern edge. On the plus side, Uber/Lyft to the Pearl Street area is only $10-12 each way (including tip); and public transportation bus stop ($3) is also near the hotel and runs every 12 minutes for the majority of the day/night.
As a Discoverist, I got upgraded to a high floor king room. We also received a snack bag with two waters, chips, cookies, and a granola bar. The bathroom is spacious, our shower was a walk-in with sliding glass doors. Water pressure and temperature seemed to depend on the time of day and how many others were showering at the same time. That said, the bathroom wasn't well-cleaned and the bathroom faucet was extremely loose. I informed the front desk via text messages of the issues, and we were offered points amounting to almost a one-night stay (a satisfactory resolution to me).
The room itself was spacious enough. The HVAC felt difficult to control--set it at 68°F and the room felt cold; set it at 70°F and the room felt very warm. We brought our own sparkling wine to enjoy in the room while getting ready for dinner, and The Placery bartender was nice enough to provide us with two glasses. The lobby was nice and spacious; the courtyard in the back would be a nice place to relax with a drink in the summer.
Breakfast is $11/person, but it's free for WOH members (at least according to FD, but maybe Discoverist and above only?). It was perfectly acceptable. They actually have a person you need to check in with, and there was plenty of staff refilling everything and cleaning up (unlike the Hyatt Place Colorado Springs Garden of the Gods--would not recommend). As with most low/mid-tier hotel chain breakfast buffets, the coffee was terrible.
Just a note: street parking is free between 7pm Saturday night to 9am Monday morning. We found a spot across the street from the hotel at 6pm on Saturday night. I paid $1.95 through the ParkMobile app, and we were good for the rest of our stay. Garage parking is $25/day with in-and-out privileges.
In summary: if you need a Hyatt-brand hotel in Boulder, this is your only choice. If you want something else closer to CU-Boulder or Pearl Street, there are Marriott and Hilton options that will better suit you.
