Not really lounge experience related but more of a AKL Intl Premium check-in question...

A couple of days ago, I was flying J to Sydney. There was a massive queue in the general check-in line so headed to the Prem check-in area at AKL International airport. In the morning rush, you'll sometimes also see a "queue" to get inside as premium pax wait for a kiosk. This time, there was a significant queue, probably around 8-10 people waiting. Being J, I knew I could use the J/Elite check-in area within the space. So I walked past the line and the agent got angry and told me I needed to get in line and I kindly informed her I'm in J and was going to head to the J check-in area (which obviously there was no line for). She scoffed something under her breath and let me through...

Did I do something wrong? What do you guys do or what would you guys have done? Line up and then get directed into the J area....? Seems pretty counter-intuitive if you ask me...
