If the hotel is nearby you could go by boat. But I don't think there are any Bonvoy properties close to St. Regis. I once came to St. Regis by boat from other resort (Sun Siyam Vilu Reef) and then left by boat to a local island, so I didn't use their sea plane transfer at all.
How recent (or long ago) was this? My understanding is that the hotel no longer allows this (and will give you some type of excuse as to why) because they don't want to lose the revenue from the sea plane transfer. So whoever wants to stay at 2 different resorts regardless of they are accessible to reach other by boat you need to go back to MLE and then transfer too the other resort.
Just curious, how did you then get from the local island back to Male?
