There is exactly one non stop flight a day between YVR and EWR, on Air Canada. EWR is not exactly SkyTeam Central, does Delta even fly to EWR? Unless there is to be an added connection, it is probably best to go YVR AMS OSL.

But what was the reason for the dropped leg? Change of timing from SK, change of timing from AC? We probably do need some more details.
