  • Location: Very convenient to the Osaka castle and gardens (duh) but... seemingly not that much else. Er, only 3 stops away from the Tenjinbashisuji Shopping Street which is pretty darn cool, though. In terms of subway access, I timed it: walking (without luggage), it's about 10 minutes from getting out of the subway car to the front door of the hotel. Not great, but not awful.
  • Rooms: Anything's gonna be a letdown coming from the Grand Hyatt Tokyo (my previous stop), but the rooms here aren't bad. I got upgraded to a twin executive room with castle view and let me tell you, that's QUITE a view by day and (when lit up) at night! Bed is comfortable, shower and bath are good, climate control is decent (and silent!), and there are little touches that I wouldn't expect from a Doubletree, like a Nespresso machine and a bathrobe. Bunch of plug outlets w/ USB-C ports, too! No clothes drawers, though. Oh, and very quiet; can only occasionally hear people talking outside my room, but other than that, it's blissfully silent!
  • Lounge: A hearty meh. Friendly staff, decent coffee (espresso) machines, but not particularly impressive in any way. Evening food is both lackluster in variety and in taste, akin to a mediocre international airport lounge I suppose. I got access to the lounge because of the free upgrade, but I would absolutely not pay extra for this.
  • Breakfast: Much more impressive, albeit quite crowded. No problem getting a seat, but definitely felt like a busy subway station getting food. On a scale from 1 to 5, I'd rate the variety a 4 and the quality a 3 or 3.5 (and those are pretty tough ratings, because of what I enjoyed at the Conrad Tokyo in my last visit, for instance, which was just off the hook amazing, rating 5 and 4.5 respectively). I am delighted I've gotten this breakfast free as a Gold member, but I could imagine paying for this out of pocket if the price wasn't too high!
  • Wifi: Absolutely solid and no-hassle! Haven't Netflix'd, but I have no doubt it'd have gone very well.
Can't really comment on the service, since I haven't really asked for info or help during my stay

Would I stay here again? Maybe. Since comfy beds, good HVAC, and reasonable soundproofing are such critical pieces of a peaceful stay and this hotel hits all of that out of the park, I certainly wouldn't mind staying here again (especially with a decent points redemption). But I'm off to the Conrad Osaka for 2 nights tomorrow (also on points), so that may spoil me
Hi Excellent report ThatAdamguy,

The Conrad Osaka is an excellent hotel ( lounge is closed for breakfast ) but the afternoon tea and evening snacks are very good at Conrad
This hotel sound good. might try it out next may ( if I can't get into the conrad) for a few days whilst exploring the Expo
