I recently redeemed AS miles on Icelandair and was also wondering about this. Can confirm that I received one free checked bag but they charged for seat selection. I didn't choose a seat and they allocated one at online checkin. It was cheaper to change that seat at the airport checkin kiosk, compared to when checking in online.
