If the goal is to not spend much cash on the trip, but you don’t want to use that many miles for it to be “free”, maybe consider doing the “Money + Miles” feature to help offset your cash expenditure? I just played around with it and you’ll still have to spend several thousand dollars per person plus a bunch of miles but at least you won’t be spending as much cash.
