This week, I had to call AA for my MIL due to an award ticket schedule change, and it was a horrific experience. She has no AA status, so this was the general line. From the useless AI trying to help, the maddening phone menu options, the inability to easily speak to a human, the long wait times no matter when you call, and the callbacks always happening at the most inconvenient time. It took 3 calls over the week to resolve this, which would've been a 5-minute call with the 1K line.

I will be Gold next year, and I was wondering what the UA Phone Support for Gold is like. I am not even sure if there is a separate line for Golds, or is it all just the non-1K line?
It is crazy the government allows this type of service. It is so bad that airlines can sell tickets and then when there is a problem customers have such awful treatment trying to get basic service. There should be a minimum standard of care for customers or airlines should be fined. Just because you have zero status with an airlines does not mean you should be treated poorly. I have status with United and it can be a mess to change a flight when a basic delay happens.
