You nailed it. QF ticket and metal multisegment. Still fighting QF for the refund. They will not explain the downgrade. Was a C full fare ticket with Saphire status and they still downgraded. Ticket was issued by travel agent. They have been unsuccessful as of yet getting a refund. Since I purchased the ticket in the US I nay need to sue Qantas in small claims court to get their attention. I had five flights with them all in paid unrestricted business (just the one downgrade)l. Not sure what QF FFP has to do with this.
It is not uncommon on a Business multisegment ticket involving domestic segments, that some of the domestic segment are in Y when using Jetstar (fully-owned sub) with QF code.
The whole ticket might be based on Bizz pricing but the domestic segment operated in Y and with a Y fare bucket. All OW FFP will credit the Y fare bucket used on this segment, not C.
I am not saying that this is the cause of the "downgrade" and lower credit. Just a possibility.
