Hi flyers,

Please help! I've been searching everywhere, high and low, for a clamshell suitcase that is nylon -- with extensive travel, I'm concerned polycarbonate bags just won't hold up (from scuffing to cracks), and I generally prefer nylon. I'm a die-hard clamshell fan, though: I like having one side for shoes, accessories, toiletries, leaving clothes on the other side accessible without fully unpacking.

The only two bags I can find that do this are Tumi (Alpha, etc. -- most of their line is ballistic nylon), and the "Platinum Elite Compact Carry-On Business Plus Hardside Spinner" by TravelPro that is partially nylon, but the dimensions are weird. I can't bring myself to pay Tumi prices without a lifetime warranty anymore.

Does anyone have suggestions for a great clamshell bag that can stand the test of time? Or even a good Tumi dupe/fake? Thanks a bunch!
