yep, that has been happening for a year or so. You get a pretty good seat as *G, but changing it even to an equivalent seat is not possible - except at the airport.
Just tried at Dublin airport and asked to change to a window (Swissport staff running checkin). ( I’m exit aisle) and was told it would cost money, which mirrors what the app shows me. Definitely frustrating as I’m also a window guy.
