January 3rd or 4th is peak, peak season and flights will be busy. EK are currently only selling First on 4th Jan so it looks like Economy (and Business) are sold out, so reward flights are very unlikely.

Add to that that EK are selling Economy Flex Plus on 3rd for $1,711 USD with no refund penalty (only no show) I'd be avoiding the Chase options anyway.
