I screwed up, or I would have done very well in that competition.

I moved to the the US a few weeks into 2008. I did already have a MP acct that I had used only to score free Premier Exec status with a previous company several years earlier. That account had zero miles recorded against it, however for some reason I decided to ignore that, open a new MP account, and then ask for a status match to my Qantas Gold status, which they did.

Then a few days later I found out about this competition. But as per the rules listed in that thread, new accounts weren't eligible to apply! If I'd re-used my previous MP account, I would have been eligible. I ended up flying somewhere north of 200,000 EQM in 11 months of 2008 - with an 'infinity' percentage increase over the previous year...
