BA have cancelled a future reward flight and put me on the later service with a 2 minute connection time to the connecting trans-Atlantic flight. I feel however BA are putting it on me to change the new flight to a much earlier one, and one there’s a chance I might not make it to on time as I’m potentially tied up that morning.
What happens if I simply leave the booking and miss the connecting flight? Missing the connecting flight isn’t really isn’t too much of an issue for me and BA are duty bound to still get me to my final destination on time (won’t happen either as there’s also another connecting flight from Heathrow I’d then miss). But me changing to an earlier flight to help them extend that 2 minute initial connection could backfire as there’s a chance I could miss it and that would be my problem. I’m a firm believer of no good deed goes unpunished, haha.
Do I call and help them out or leave it and see what happens?
if a flight gets cancelled they do not look at every passenger individually to see who connects and rework their booking before they cancel the flight. that would lead to other problems
They cancel the flight and rebook just that flight. That means some connecting passengers may move below mct.
there are other processes that run later looking for PAX that are below MCT and look to correct that.
unless your flight in in the next day or so, I think for now its best to do nothing, accept nothing, you have a very flexible ticket now.
Some people will ot like what they got rebooked on and make changes, or even cancel their travel, which may open up other option for you that are not currently available.
