Late reply... but first hand experience:
Was stopping in Doha for 24hrs in Feb 2024. Thought I do the right thing and leave the drone with customs (DJI Mini 3). After passing the immigration, there was a guy who seemed to man the entrance to the red customs channel. He seemed to actually make sure no one would enter there. I had to ask three times and explain to him hat I wanted to deposit a drone. HE eventually and reluctantly let me into the red channel.
Lots of empty desks there (with lots of alcohol bottles below the desks). No one could be found for about 15min. Then eventually someone took pity in me, but seemed to be at a total loss as to why I wanted to deposit a drone. A supervisor was needed. That took another 40min. Then I was told to go to another office, nearby. There i had again to wait, another 30min or so. Eventually the door opened and someone took my drone, gave me a piece of paper with my name and passport No on it, and told me to leave. Where I asked where could get it back for departure, they just said here. Couldn't get much useful info out of them.
24hrs later after check in in, I started to look for where to get the drone back. The Qatari at the customs desk (land-side, near the check in) didnt want anything to do with it. Eventually someone said it would be after security. After passing security I had to again look for it. It was a non-descript door, next to the airport police office, if I remember right. No-one there...! Great!
When someone eventually came, I handed them the paper receipt from earlier, and had my drone back in seconds. No questions asked.
(needless to say, I will just leave it in my luggage next time I think)
