Coming back to the reason/title of the thread: yesterday, with some pretty minor intermittent turbulence, they decided to cancel the drink service on SFO-PHX after having handed out their very salty snacks some 30-40 min into the flight. The flight time was 1.5 h and the flight was an hour late... One of those cases where everyone was eagerly awaiting their drink. Just a "we hope to make it up next time" non-apology, and no apology for the delay either. They used to handle issues like this a lot better than they did yesterday...
DL has had crews stay seated with minor rough air for a 3-hour flight on the climb out of MSP. I get the whole safety thing, but I think the airlines have figured out ways of saving more money, don't so service at all.
