How exactly will having this help?

The current lost baggage process seems to be that any leftover bags are scanned and matched with World Tracer reports. The bags are then sent on their way.

As has been said on here, BA won't go looking for specific bags, and I doubt very much that will change. Even if they did, looking for a specific Airtag within a huge pile of bags just wouldn't be feasible.
