Sad to see these changes
I have been a loyal WestJet flyer. I haven’t even price checked with other airlines as the reward program they had gave such good insentives. I have also chosen my travel destinations based on specifically where WestJet could take my family, friends and I. This decision was always easily made because I wanted to get the most benefit from the rewards as I could, and being loyal made it worth it. The email they sent out explained, “We’ve been talking with members like you about how we can elevate WestJet rewards to serve you better, learning what features and benefits matter most.” They are providing a bonus of 50% more tier qualifying rewards for flights from Jan 1-March 31st. I feel like that will be the last hurrah for this rewards program as clearly these changes are just to cut their costs. Wish they’d just straight up say that instead of making it sound like this is what we want. I believe these changes will reduce customer loyalty. Really sad to see this change to Westjets Reward program as there really isn’t much incentive. Skip credits are of absolutely no desire to me as skip is a horrible company. I’ve had a few issues with credit card fraud with skip and visa fraud department told me they are one of the worst companies for fraudulent charges. I want nothing to do with Skip. I have been really happy with WestJet service over the years but these changes will lead me and others to look at other options.
