I had been looking at One World flights from Auckland to Adelaide in early February next year, and the best deal at the time appeared to be a QF-coded Alliance Airlines flight to Brisbane followed by a regular QF flight to Adelaide.

BA weren't able to give me a definitive answer, but by a process of elimination, I eventually worked out that I would earn neither tier points nor avios on the AKL-BNE leg. A period of masterly inactivity then followed, and luckily next time I looked, flights via Sydney had opened up at the same price, earning tp and avios on both legs. Those extra 40 tier points will just get me over the line for GGL renewal to March 31st 2026!
