EF shows W4 and Y1, so indeed it does look like the last economy seat for sale on the flight. The pricing makes sense. Those who want or need to pay less will choose a different flight. None of the other flights on the day shows greater than Y7 so there is demand.
Yes, it sucks to have to pay that much but that is how it is.
