The reservation won't ( or shouldn't ) get cancelled, you will just owe resort fees as resorts fees being waived is based on your status when you check out.
You could always say you booked while Diamond and play dumb and see what happens but I plan on being charged

It's a major loss ( Diamond) for sure but I'm still going to go to Vegas and I'm not moving to a place like 4 Queens that doesn't charge resort fees.
I travel with my wife so we will get at least 60K reward credits (Wyndham points to CET) combined per year so $600 on site which can be used to pay resort fees.
I compared our CET rates to MGM and I still get much better pricing at CET.
We are already booked at Planet Hollywood king pool views 6 nights Sat - Friday in October for $281.............now it will be $281 plus resort fees
Excal at MGM shows $295 plus resort fees for a Royal Tower room and Luxor shows $1144 plus resort fees for a Pyramid room.
