I would say that this is a Marriott with a full service lounge and breakfast, so I'd assess as better than an Asian Courtyard - however I never did stay at the Courtyard to truly compare.

Foodstalls however - there are a bunch of stall-like restaurants within walking distance (i.e. very cheap, somewhere to sit down), but the full hawker market is even further than the Gurney Drive mall (i.e. likely grab rather than walk). A quick list of what I paid attention to:

• The closest "highly rated" place was a high end seafood restaurant with plenty of tourists, Bali Hai Seafood Market, but that was more expensive than the mall: https://maps.app.goo.gl/UWijndMnbM9s1SXH7 .
• There was also a fish head curry place that was well rated and better prices, but was still a sit-down place: https://maps.app.goo.gl/uW8vSbA3NpFUByEi7
• There is a restaurant right next door, with small indoor/outdoor space, but locally priced, so like USD5 for breakfast: https://maps.app.goo.gl/7SrkhCuL27fqZt9UA . There are a few others next door to it that don't even seem to get any google reviews but were on the cheap side.
• This is the hawker centre - we didn't eat there as by the time we'd walked all that way the mall seemed more appealing with its aircon : https://maps.app.goo.gl/ayFoSq4ewbzRSey46

The mall itself had a lot of food choices and big brands.

But to be clear, this isn't Georgetown, and you aren't going to find your long lists of "best X food" walking distance from this hotel, except for probably the fish head curry
