The "credit" was issued in June and I've been trying to get this resolved since then. I wanted to use it toward another international flight, but the fares jumped by 1000s when going to book with the credit (the fares didn't actually change - just the amount they would charge "me" for the flight). Instead I bought a similar ticket through Lufthansa and travel this December. At a minimum, I'd like what I'm entitled to (an actual credit that can be applied to a fair market fare) and the credit to be extended for as long as it takes for me to get it's actual value. I'd also like to be refunded or get a legitimate and usable flight credit for the difference in fare (around $300) I paid over and above the actual fare on the purchase date for my RT domestic flight last week. I'm sure United has records of my calls, chats, and emails as well has historic fare data to confirm what I'm saying is accurate (obviously, they won't until pressed to do so). I'm going to pursue with my state AG, the DOT, and FTC, but realize they can't satisfy me, personally. For that, I plan to pursue a small claims case against the airline. Thank you, again!
