If BA were really interested in reducing waste, pre-ordering is a no-brainer. If the whole F cabin pre-ordered, there would be no waste as a result of unexercised choice. Of course, if you are motivated by saving money, then you are not keen on pre-ordering because of the reasons identified by choosethedrew and/or because you need to fix your IT before it is possible.
