Shanghai Sheraton - A smelly place
Had an interesting three night stay at the Shanghai Sheraton.
First - I am traveling with a business associate. I booked two rooms in my name as my associate but didn't want the nights or the stay and doesn't have a credit card. I intend to pay for his and my room charges. I informed the front desk at check- in. They informed me that the room has to be in his name with his SPG number. So we changed the name. I had my spouse call PLT desk and ask about it. They informed us that I'm allowed to pay and get credit for the charges on up to three rooms. They checked the reservation and made a note on my account that the rooms were both reserved in my name. Then they told me to tell the hotel to merge the charges into my number and that I should make sure I keep the folios in case I need to fax it in. Checked out today and after a lengthy discussion they finally merged the rooms and charged my credit card.
Now for the smelly part. - When I checked in (at 11PM Shanghai time)I was upgraded to a suite. That was very nice - however - the bathroom in the suite area had a sewage problem. There was nothing visible but it smelled. I was out of the room most of the first day. When I returned the suite reaked. I called the front desk. They sent someone up but he couldn't figure it out. It was now 10PM and I was exhausted and went to sleep. The next day the stench was still there. I called again, and again they couldn't figure it out. Then they did offer me another room, but I was tired and really didn't feel like moving. When I checked out this morning, I mentioned the smell again. I got a "We offered to move you."
Isn't that special. Changing rooms is a royal pain in the a**. Somehow the Sheraton promise is lost in Shanghai. Next time I'm staying at the Shanghai Westin!!!
