I actually think it kind of makes sense - that minimum bid has been open for bidding ever since purchase of the ticket - up to 12 months! If there’s been no interest at that level up to now then why not lower the minimum entry 4 days prior to the flight to try and capture revenue you wouldn’t have?

of course if people twig and realise there’s no value in bidding early at all then it works against them.
