I have a MileagePlus economy award ticket with an Excursionist Perk leg in AU. Since I am UA Gold, the rules is 2 pieces 32 KG / 70 lbs. each. Per the IATA rule, this applies to the entire journey. However, does the 32 KG rule apply for the VA leg? When I checked in in the US, I was a 6 pounds over 50 lbs. so I am trying to figure out what to do for the VA flight. Since they also care about carryon weight, I am not sure shifting things to the carryon solves the problem.
