Totally off topic but BA's 'fit to fly' requirements are an absolute nonsense. I presented them (on behalf of a relative) a letter stating their specific surgery and recovery period (6 weeks). On trying to book an alternative flight for more than 12 weeks later, was told needed a 'fit to fly' certificate despite the surgeon's letter already specifying the recovery period which was much less than the proposed new flight date.
The way way around it was to cancel and rebook- no cross checking of requirements, no requirement to provide a 'fit to fly' certificate for the new booking - really a case of policy not being fit for purpose. The most arrogant person I have ever dealt with in my life was on the 'IAG loyalty desk' who was referred to as if he were sainted by his colleagues, but also gave wrong information and dressed it up as 'guidance' so there was no liability on the information he provided. God awful.
All the best for getting this resolved and hope your experience of BA interpreting medical situations is much better than my own.
