Nippon TV and Kyodo News reported that some had the symptoms before boarding the flight on Guam.
Kyodo News reported that Japan Airlines told airport officials it did not believe inflight meals to be the cause.
Japanese officials suspect that the groups contracted the illness while on Guam, which would account for the fact that those who fell ill were on two separate flights, Japanese media reports stated.
