Holiday Inn London Gatwick Worth

What is your Priority Club status? Platinum

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? standard Double booked, upgraded to family room with a double and 2 singles and a foldaway armchair-bed.

How are the rooms?
we were in the new wing, open for around 2 years so rooms still in good condition.
room style was dark brown with black frames and an open wardrobe/storage with a small desk. Pleasant enough, but nothing special.
lots of power sockets and each had a USB-A charge port.
while plenty of space for 2, with 4 or 5 it could get a bit crowded.

How is the exec. lounge?
n/a

What was good and what was bad?
bad

lighting was a little dim, but not too many light switches so easy to control
no access to the TV HDMI ports.
breakfast coffee machine makes ghastly "speciality" coffees.
despite an upgraded room, their choice to put us in a family room when we were just 2 people seemed unusual. For a couple of nights stay, the bath robes from exec rooms were missed.
only 1 drink voucher for 2 guests; i thought IHG gave 1 per guest? Although the receptionist was pleasant we know him as not the most "awake" of staff, so we put it down to that.
the room numbering system and layout is quite confusing and it's quite a walk to the new wing through a maze of corridors.
the desk chair is very heavy and no easy way to get hold of it to move it.

good
comfortable bed
good breakfast
good AC (heating) which warmed the room up comparatively quickly.
usually room upgrades are good here, typically exec rooms or their junior suites.
As semi-frequent visitors most of the longer standing duty management now recognise and engage with us personally which is nice.
plenty of surfaces for "stuff".

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
This trip around £100/night incl breakfast; it's very convenient for nearby family so we'll be returning, again.
