How long after you hit 5k tier points for the first time (ie become ggl) does it take to be able to use jokers?

I just had a thought. Given it can take time for flights to credit, it's possible to earn ggl in a year but not have it recognised until after the year ends or say the last day. I assume BA just shrugs and doesn't give you jokers in your qualifying year even if you are ready to use one immediately. Ie you just get the two jokers.
