I saw on Facebook someone report an instant buy less than the minimum bid and confirm there were no prior bids. In my experience the instant buy has been fixed, has been higher than the highest existing bid and HASN’T changed closer to departure (including to Japan).
Not so sure it’s fixed. I just checked a flight that is just under 96 hours out - and i’m seeing a insta purchase for KUL-SIN at SGD98 .. below the SGD166 minimum bid. Have not bid and do not intend to.
