I'm not sure when these low D gates opened up but I absolutely dread getting one. It has happened only twice to me but those gates make for a horrible connection. It seems like there needs to be a higher MCT if you connect through one of them.
They've been open for quite awhile. I know pre-covid I had a trip where wheelchair attendants left me and some other people in need of assistance at one of those gates to wait for a flight - and then the gate changed but there was no one around to push us to the next gate.
