The big question is do you have a BAEC account already? If so does it have a year end date on it?
If not, your big decision is whether to get Silver before 31 March 2025 or after it. If you get it before, then you keep it from the point of hitting 600 TPs until 31 March 2026, so at least a year. On 1 April your TP collection gets zapped and you have to start again, but any status achieved before 1 April will carry over. Moreover if you do get Silver before 31 March 2025, not only does it last until 1 April 2026 but you soft land to Bronze from 1 April 2026 onwards - that at least gives you 7 day free seat selection and slightly better access through LHR.
As mentioned you need 4 BA flights, and / or 4 BA marketed flights, as well as 600 TPs, to get Silver. So if that Qatar flight is sold as a BA codeshare then that sorts as out that, but if sold by Qatar alone then it does not do so (broadly speaking).
I do have a BA account as I’m collecting avios, I am not sure what the end date is. On the app it shows 2 dates
one says: Tier points collection year ends 08 Jan 2025
the other date: Card Expiry 28 Feb 2025
Can i still get silver before I fly Qatar which is on 06 March? and no this is not a codeshare flight so I do plan on taking the required 4 flights.
For my qatar first leg it’s lhr-doh-jed, all economy class N. How much tier points would i get?
I did input my BA frequent flyer number instead of Qatar privilege

- If you're in business class or above, you already get all the benefits of silver on the day of your flight (priority security, lounge access, enhanced baggage allowance, priority boarding). You do potentially miss out on the benefits of silver before and after the flight, such as seat selection and enhanced Avios earning on BA marketed flights.
If I gain silver before my flight on 6 Mar, can I use that status for free seat selection, enhance baggage etc on that flight?
Also if I upgrade to business from economy (which im flying) using Avios do I gain tier points? or do I have to pay in cash to earn tier points.
Thank you.
