Just finished DFW-CDG in PE on a 788 (N816AA).
Seat: 9D
Pros: Aisle access, recline without worrying about anyone behind you, storage under the seat in front, decent leg room for 5’11” with 32”ers.
Cons: Seat juts into the aisle at the point it jogs outboard entering the PE cabin, so the FA’s tend to play bumper cars with it…and people walking up from the Y cabin tend to bang the seat too. Footrest is, as noted above, a joke.
PE cabin:
Pros: Much more comfortable seats with 1.5”+ more width and double the recline.
Cons: Not much, but for some reason, despite the curtain rail still being there, there is no curtain between Y and PE on the 788. The rail is actually labeled “No curtain installed”. This resulted in everyone in the front Y cabin wandering up to the front restrooms between PE and J, despite the crew’s initially announcement telling 10-31 to use the middle restrooms. The FA’s can’t really do anything except shoo away people hanging around the restrooms, and confirmed the 789’s have a curtain on that rail.
PE ammenities: A zippered bag with a cushion, a blanket, small over-the-ear headphones, and a goody bag (socks, an eye mask, ear plugs, a dental kit, and hand lotion).
Aircraft: WiFi was spotty and ended up crapping out. Right-side forward restroom (between J and PE) was out of service but the crew didn’t even know about it until they boarded…and the Purser forgot when asking everyone what restrooms to use. Resulted in massive traffic in the left aisle from Economy up to the left forward restroom.
Cabin notes: As shown in earlier pictures, unlike the 777’s, the bulkhead in Economy between them and PE does not have an opening and does not allow floor storage for takeoff/landing. PE overhead space was no more than 60% full.
