Miles sharing is free for cardholders; but I am not understanding if the sender, recipient, both, or only one needs to be a cardholder. I am a cardholder, my girlfriend is not. I would like to utilize the miles purchase on her account as I've maxed it out on mine already, and then transferring to myself on AS. Would this work for free?
Yes. I have transferred some orphan miles from other family member’s HA accounts to mine. I am the card holder.

For completeness, I think I could also initiate a transfer from my account to theirs for free, but I haven’t done that.
