If you have any ad blockers, either on your phone or on your network (like a Pi-hole), that could explain it. When the app first got an update and started crashing for me, I did some debugging and saw that it's failing to connect to a CDN that my Pi-hole rules blocked. Turning off Pi-hole completely (I have it running on my home network and I have a profile on my phone that, even away from home, sends DNS requests through it) and uninstalling and reinstalling the app worked for me. Turning Pi-hole back on after the app fired up the first time didn't cause the crash to return, even after a phone reboot or force-closing the app.

Funny enough, I had to do the same thing this morning when the update/revert happened.
