My understanding was that, if you book an economy fare then later take a cash upgrade, it is pretty common within the industry to get miles based only on the initial booking. I was pleased to learn that, for Garuda, this was not the case, and duly took a £100 upgrade to business class.

I'm now facing the same decision for Kenya Airways (BKK-CAN, minimum bid £150). I've tried to find out if this upgrade would give me the additional points, but to no avail. Can anyone shed light on this?
