I honestly haven't found it to be very helpful at Newark (as of a few months ago) as they just dump you at the top of the security lines.
If you can find one of the staff and tell them you are GS they will take you to the very front of the line -- and remember in EWR you have to own it -- don't look sheepish -- take it strongly like the GS you are and strut right up front... This drives my Japanese wife insane, while I have zero issues begging someone to question me...
