Confusing GUC issue on KLM - can you make sense of this?
Hello - flying in December MSP-AMS-NBO and back. First leg MSP-AMS (and return) on DL equipment, second leg AMS-NBO (and return) on KLM.
We used Global Upgrade Certificates and easily got cleared into premium select on the DL operated flights, but there were no seats on KLM.
I have been using Expert Flyer to look for Z class seats and now see some, but when I call DL they are unable to book into them. Looking closer, I see this:
- There IS Z class (Z4) on AMS-NBO (KL 565) when I look at that isolated round trip itinerary (No Z class on return KL 566)
- There IS Z class (Z9) on the same AMS-NBO (KL 565) flight when paired to make a complete itinerary MSP-AMS-NBO, but on a MSP-AMS flight that is later than mine
with a short layover in AMS
- BUT, there is NO Z class (Z0) when I look at my actual MSP-AMS-NBO itinerary, with the longer layover, even though I see many Z class seats available with the other
MSP itinerary!
So, it seems there are seats, but ONLY if I link the KLM flight with the exact connecting flight from MSP. Does this make sense? I get different answers each time I call Delta, and they can sometimes see the Z class seats but can’t book into it, and sometimes don’t see them at all.
Any advice on how to grab that Z seat is appreciated! I will try to post a screen shot of Expert Flyer too.
Thank you!
