I travel with my ski gear yearly and it's a non-issue. Skis in a ski bag, wrapped in ski jacket and pants for padding (supposed forbidden items). Boots and helmet in a generic duffel, also packed with remaining hats, gloves, sweaters, etc for padding and to fill space. They count as one bag per AS rules. Nothing to worry about!
