Tips:
Health declaration will ask for your seatnumber on arrival flight
E-Visa Upon Arrival will ask for uploads in jpg: passport + headshot AND in pdf: passport + departing airline ticket
You can decide not going to the hassle of E-VOA,
you are allowed to do Visa Upon Arrival, this means keeping cash or creditcard ready to purchase it upon arrival at designated counters.
It helps to print out the documents / QR (especially as physical evidence) but it can be kept as screenshot on your mobile devices
It is possible to do this all on arrival after landing in DPS airport after disembarking the aircraft.
- Banners & airport staff holding QR codes for arriving passengers to scan to complete all formalities.
- Also workstations on countertop tables for those without any mobile devices

And let's guide you through the international arrival process at DPS Denpasar Bali Airport.

After a red-eye flight from Europe and in transit from Singapore Changi airport, we arrived half awake in Bali after bingewatching all major K-pop, anime/manga, trilogies...., our minds were foggy but this is what you'll see upon landing when following signs to immigration.


Disembarking the aircraft from the aerobridge ,
you'll go 1 level down by stairs or escalator to this passage corridor to the arrival hall
Note the banner stands to the right....





As you can see it is all walking,
the far right already shows a banner announcing the warning for the need for documents pertaining arrival formalities,
which can be filled in by scanning the QR by your mobile device





Here starts the main arrival hall,
these ladies came all the way from Texas and were bedazzled at first sight,
the reason i'm making this tutorial guide....

Arrival Hall

First stage (hurdle)

To continue, one must present their health pass (print or on mobile device) to staff on duty.

If unable to comply, there is the possibility to complete it insitu

As you can see, even if you do forget to do it in advance, there is a last minute chance to do it



Second stage (hurdle again)
Differention in branch path,

and other applicable status, may continue onwards to the manned immigration booths and/ or automated passport gates

For those that do not qualify or were unable and as such must purchase a visa upon arrival,
move to the side left

These are the lines for those wishing to purchase visa upon arrival.
You can pay in cash (major currencies $ / € or creditcard at the counter.
Data will be inputted and a sticker put your passport.
Afterwards you may continue to the manned immigration booths and / or passport gates.
I say and / or because it all depends on the crowds, IT infrastructure and officers in charge.


As the arrival hall prohibts any photography and filming during the actual immigration proces.

However there is an unannounced surprise to sooth those arriving internationals passengers that are:
- impaired & disabled : travelling with assistance in mobility aids
- seniors and elderly > 60 years
- those that are happily expecting = pregnant
- those travelling with infants < 5 years

An officer on duty will check eligability .
You will be processed by dedicated immigration staff at designated counters and can aporoach as one travelling party.
Please be reminded that photos will be taken and as such caps and hats must be removed.

You made it this far,
a warm welcome to Bali Indonesia,
You'll pass the duty free concession selling alcohol, cigarettes and what ever caters to your addiction and continue to the baggage claim area with the belts.

But also porters. These can be identified in red outfit wearing red headbands.


This is also the time to use the loo again.

As we were travelling on Singapore Airlines, at their annouced belt for luggage retrieval, dedicated staff is available to approach for enquiries.
It seemed some passengers made their connections but their luggage didn't make it.
As such provisions are made for arrival on the next flight and to be transported to your preferred address in Bali.
For those travelling in premium cabins and holding elite status, i'm glad to report priority luggage pops out first.

Third stage (hurdle again, we're not done yet.....)

We took a porter as Pam Ann would exclaim: "i don't have bags, i have people"
He will assist untill you reach your mode of transport.
I.E. we brought 4 trunks for our 3 weeks grand tour from Bali across Java to end in Jakarta......
So you know ...
And while we are about to exit the belt area we stumbled upon this....




The airport and customs authority do provide the opportunity for arriving international passengers to complete their E-CD customs declaration forms


Because when you exit and turn around the corner, you will encounter 6 queues for counters where custom officials will scan the ECD QR per travelling party and inspect the amount of luggage / suitcases / bags you bring in VS your declaration.

Around the corner,
officials will direct certain passengers for 100% scan of all belongings ,
(so suitcases, bags, anything that you carry with you)
through the X-ray machine.
in quick observance
- those that had declaration discrepencies (more bags than declared)
- those i think digital nomads / influencers with macbooks, laptops, video equipment (Bali is trampled by those "working" on tourist visas)
- a group of persons who are from the country of "Da, Darlings" and seem straight out of a mercenary movie......



And with that we reach the open air post formalities arrival hall.
We are still in the restricted zone without public access.
Here you will find the ATM plaza, Money Changers, TeleCommunication seevices, Sundries and convenience stores and transport services.

We use Telkomsel sims for communication & data services while in Indonesia.
Staff is at hand to instal and update your device.
One can pay in cash or credit.


I never see my prefered currency of Gibralter pounds or Scottish pounds ....

Yes praise the L-rd, i say it to myself, that we were happy to take a porter at DPS airport.
Only because of his kind assistance and direction, we were made aware that as we already paid and printed our Bali tourist tax,
that we need our Bali tourist tax QR to be scanned to become activated!

The Indonesian government, department jurisidiction Bali, can keep track via cross referencing their systems if foreign visitors were compliant or not. He told us that exit immigration passport control DPS airport, seems to question some foreigners for need of clarification.
Like i mentioned before, "'influencers" staying on tourist visa, "working" while not permitted, false declaration of "media" equipment for commercial use, not excempt in paying the tourist tax as title is tourism and not residency.


So after the Starbucks, keep a look out for this sign.


And this also your last and final chance to pay the Bali tourist tax.
And also to have it scanned for verification purposes.
We heard that during the implementation phase it was lax enforced but it will be more stricter with major festive season travel periods coming along.

My personal tip is to

untill you finally plant your buttocks in your airline seat and the pilot says: "cabin crew, please take your seats for departure" and leaving Bali onwards to your next destination......
It ain't over before you are truely soaring in the sky.

I do hope you've enjoyed this report and that it provides some illumination about the current (NOV 2024) international arrivals process into Denpasar Bali airport in Indonesia. Although it takes 4 hurdles to finally plonk yourself with a bintang beer under a palm tree while overlooking the waves of the sea or the soothing green of nature, it is ofcourse all worth it. To end on a positive note, i can report Shanice, LaFey, Corinne and Tayla made it all through all 4 steps as we bumped into them at the Jimbaran seafood restaurants (small world), and they told me " like girl, your explainations at the airport were so helpful, you should be a guide or something because uh um, we ain't go no idea what were we're getting ourselves into!" . So this one is dedicated to my girls out there !
