Do you happen to know which country’s stamp is placed on the passport during passport control when arriving at Basel-Mulhouse airport from a non-Schengen country? I'm not asking about crossing into France or Switzerland but specifically about which country's entry stamp is applied at the airport.

On arrival at Basel airport you first go through passport control, no matter if you want to go to Switzerland or France. Then you get to the baggage claim area, where you find two exits, one marked "Switzerland" and the other one "France/Germany". Depending on the exit you pass either EU or Swiss customs and then you're out in the public area of the airport. Once you're out you cannot easily cross back over the "border", the trick here is to go to the departure hall on level 3 where you can then simply take either exit, French or Swiss. Note that public transport to Basel (direct bus nr 50 to Basel SBB central train station) is only available on the Swiss side, not on the French side.
