The A380 service on the DFW route wasn’t due to return next summer. It had switched between B777 and A350 service ahead of today’s announcement. I am guessing between B787 CS refits (plus the rumoured A380 CS refit start) and B777 maintenance, BA Ops / Tech have learned from this summers issues and have decided to leave some slack in the system so they aren’t in the same situation next winter with the B777 fleet needing extra TLC after carrying the burden over the summer.
